With the accelerated evolution of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, new disciplines continue to emerge; the trend of integrating different disciplines is unstoppable and there is an urgent need for innovative, interdisciplinary, and applied talents. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council attach great importance to interdisciplinary development. Since 2021, the Ministry of Education have issued the “Interdisciplinary Setting and Management Measures”. It is a major undertaking for the construction of world-class universities and first-class disciplines. The development of interdisciplinary study can help build the national scientific and technological strength, cultivate technical and creative talents for the future, and thus enhance the national scientific and technological power.
